Transanction Management and the Transaction Log

This session is well suited for DBAs and Developers who are constantly exposed to production environment because the session covers the common issues many neglect without recognizing. We demonstrate examples of incorrect development methodologies and analyze internal transaction logs in multi-transaction cases. After identifying the common mistakes, we will cover the best practice to avoid nested transactions in a stored procedure for smart error handling. We will also learn the basics of minimally logged operations.

About Simon:
Simon has over a decade of SQL server experience, beginning with SQL 7.0. In the past, he lead a database team and managed 200 production SQL servers and 20TB data warehouse on VM environment in Nexon America, Inc, the North American publishing arm of NEXON Co. Ltd. which hold a world record of 700K concurrent users. He moved Passion to VISA Inc, the largest credit card provider in the world, he led a Database engineer to maintain hundreds of SQL servers. As a Visual Studio champ, Simon contributed to fixing a few stored procedures in Microsoft Release Management and resolved critical blocking and performance issues.
